Make an appt to have them check the placement, you'll probably have to have an ultrasound though. The doc can trim the strings so your husband doesn't feel it.

I would probably check the collar/tag if I was without the kids, but I definitely wouldn't take the chance of getting too close to a strange dog if my kids were with me.
