I vote for that one. I made my daughter a carrot applesauce cake for her first 2 birthdays. It's good, and you don't have to worry about the massive amount of sugar they're getting.
OMG....I lost track of the time it took for Cookie Monster, it was over an hour since I made homemade buttercream frosting & tinting the frosting to the perfect shade of blue.
I also was scheduled for elbow surgery a month after making the cake.
I wonder if I'll ever find an icing I don't mind my kid eating.
Have you made the homemade whipped cream icing? Its super easy and the only one that I give my son. ANd honeslty the only one that doesnt make me sick .
wow thats amazing. I am not that talented at all. I think we are going to do cupcakes for our guests and a small cake for him. :) I wish I could decorate cakes like that.
I bought all of my Wilton cake pans from e-bay, I also bid/won a vintage Sesame Street cookie decorating kit that I never had the opportunity to use...they didn't get delivered in time for his party.

THIS THIS THIS!!! OMG!!!! A girlfriend from another board shared this with me and it's amazing. It's so easy and if you scoop it into a ziplock bag you can even pipe it out with ease onto cupcakes (cut a bigger corner off) or write with it (cut a smaller corner off). I could never get other homemade icing to pip easily.
It's really good. I'll never use another frosting recipe.
1 package instant vanilla pudding (whatever flabor you want. I've used many different flavors, to include banana! 1/4 C powdered sugar (I have left this out with no problems, I thought it was sweet enough already!) 1 cup cold milk 8 ounces of Cool Whip, thawed
I've used fat free and low fat milk and cool whip light and didn't notice a difference!
Mix pudding, milk and powdered sugar mix for 1 minute until creamy. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread on cake.
