My sons 2nd bithday is coming up and both his father and I can think of a single thing the child needs. We recently moved so we already upgraded his room and clothing. He has more toys then we care to pick up at this point. With Christmas coming up around the bin as well, our hands are raised in the air as to what to get this child.

We aren't like some people who feel he needs a mound of presents to open for it to be a special day, but we would like for there to be alteast one. And we don't want to just buy something to buy it.

Has anyone else ran into this issue before? Surely I am not alone.

Also because of the recent move, we aren't throwing him a big party because he only has one friend. Any ideas???

The big red wagon that has a cooler in it! :)

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

He has one already and we have the cooler that clips on and off. Bought it for his first Halloween, for the pumpkin patches .

Okay.

A boogie board and new Coast Guard Approved Life Jacket.

Get him something to play with outside? Swing set maybe?

kElJoY --- 14 years ago -

Swing set maybe?

Oh yeah good one.

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

Got him the boogie board while we were in the lodge and wait til you see the video of him catching his first wave. I actually almost cried. We though of a swing set but that's too big for our yard and there is a huge park literally 10 feet from our house.

Only His --- 14 years ago -

Ummmmm a puppy from the humane society..lol

on a need to know basis --- 14 years ago -

Since he has everything for being 2 then you can start moving up towards laptops and what not lol

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

Heck no, he already has the leapster laptop and he won't be getting anything like that for a while, cuz well hes a little slow. Anyways a bond sounds good and we planned to do that, but don't think he will enjoy opening that. So we plan to spring that gift on him at his 18 birthday. Ok well ill just get him a basketball goal and call it a day.

Only His --- 14 years ago -

how horrible his life must be to be 2 yrs old and have everything. Have you thought about adopting a big sister for him..she could be married and just come over to play with all his wonderful toys. lmao

kElJoY --- 14 years ago -

basketball goal

Good one too!

When my daughter turned two we decided that instead of a party and gifts we would just take her to Dinsey.

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

^ great idea, we are planning one for his 6 birthday, cuz by then we should be back on the mainland and the flight would be cheap. We want to take him at a age that he will be able to do everything and remember it.

Yea its tough being two and having everything he needs. Must be great having parental units who put him above themselves and don't spend mindlessly. Thanks to our recent pcs, lots of saving, debt reduction, and thrifty shopping, we are proud to be in our current situation. Our sons first Christmas was an bubble buster when we couldn't even afford food much less a tree and gifts. It's taken us 3 years of not going out to dinners, no vacations, and I mean NONE! buying used and coupon clipping to get where we are today.

And while yes we actually have thought about a sister for him, unfortunately we have been.unable to conceive for almost a year now. And its been tough to say the least.

lol i was being sacrcastic...was making a joke like you could buy me and I would come play with him and all his awesome toys. And yes I totally understand, I have lost 4

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

Well I'd buy you depending on the cost :) lol his toys aren't crazy awesome but we so live in Hawaii so that makes everything more awesome.

I wasn't being snappy, just wasn't sure your tone in typing. A lot of people tell me my son is just plain spoiled and to that agree. When you only have one child its easy to spoil, as there is much more to go around. Start popping out 3 and 4 and well math is very simple. You have divide more.

We are blessed and we are thankful.

I'm sorry for your 4 losses, we are now at 3 ourselves. It one of those things that never gets easier.

Only His --- 14 years ago -

tone in typing

that is hard to figure out. especially in txtn

3happykids --- 14 years ago -

The colored bubbles are so much fun. Put old tee shirts and play bubbles with him or get washable paint and have him paint the outside of the house. At that age they don't really need a lot, since we didn't know anyone when my kid turned 2 we took him to mcdonalds got him a sundae and sang to him. We even invited the family next to us over so we can all sing :) it wasn't what I wanted for him but he was so happy and that's all that mattered.

When my son was 2 his favorite animals were Zebra's & Turtles, so we got time a membership to The San Diego Zoo & Wild Animal Park & wrapped it along with a stuffed Zebra & Turtle. We also had a Zoo theme birthday party.

He still loves Zebra's & Turtles.

This August he's turning 6 & we're back in CA so we're doing Disneyland for his birthday along with The Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park.

A Savings Bond would be nice.....

Savings Bonds might be easy but consider buying a share or two of McDonald's or Disney or some other stock that has a great dividend re-investment program. It will grow more and every dividend goes into buying more shares (or partial shares); it will have a higher return for your child and for their future.

I'm with Mrs H we go somewhere fun for birthdays. He's old enough to let him pick out a small toy too. We usually let them pick out something from Toy's R Us.

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

yeah i think we may do chuckie cheese and he can pick out whatever he wants with his tickets

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

um hummmmm sure.... Just for you TT i plan to fuXk twice a day with no protection in hopes of becoming the next octomom!

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

He's 2 years old; don't get him anything. He has no concept of gift giving traditions nor does he realize it's his birthday, so why bother?

yeah i deff see your point of view as well. LOL my husband even said we should wrap up empty boxes sence he like the ripping of the paper and boxes more then whats inside!

Only His --- 14 years ago -

WOW

shinyobject --- 14 years ago -

what? Im way more worthless then her. I plan to get government help way before the babies are born, not waiting until i loose everything first.

because I most certainly am intitled to it.
