Argh moving to base soon. I am interested in finding out what is the nicest place to live on base? Like what housing division? Post pictures please! :D
Where ever they offer you. You really dony get a say here. Shadow mountain is now offered to NCO, they now have fenced grass yards, and have a single car garage. There is also fairway heights and adobe flats. Adobe 4 had 2 car garages and no yard, just a small patio area. Everything is justa about the same with small differences.
you don't get to pick where you want to live , it is assigned to you. Besides why does it matter so much about where the housing is ??? it's a roof over your heads Marine wives.
wtf who said I am complaining? I just asked what subdivision is the nicest so if and when they do call me and offer me house, I can explore my options.
5dogs we love living on base. Close to everything. Hubs comes home for lunch, and close to the hospital which is great for us with a child with a medical condition. Lots of advantages to living on base but no it isn't for everyone :)
I think what they are trying to say is if and when they call you to offer a house, you don't get to explore your options. They gave u a house and you accept or not.

agreed after living off base for 4yrs we decided to get on base and we couldnt be happier
Oh that's weird because when I did talk to the housing office today, the lady gladly informed me that she will give me two options, and it is my choice to accept which one I want. Hmmm ...
im trying to find shadow mountain but google isn't helping much!

Well that's great for those who like it. I don't think I could deal with living on base in 29. I like my yard too much. I'm also not certain I'd want the hubs home at lunch everyday LOL.
Ehhh. It's off base. They are more like town homes. 4 to a building. No garage, carports, and a tiny patio. Most likely a noisy neighbor. It worked for us though.
Yeah I don't think she was telling the whole truth, you can deny a house a once and you either take the next choice or you go in the inactive list. They are not going to call and say we have a house in A or you can take a house in B.
I was wondering why the would reserve two houses for someone when the lists are so extensive. Idk maybe they do, shoot I wish they had for me. I had requested ON BASE and even Waited 7 months for them to tell me I was stuck in 801.
We were told they would offer us one house, if we denied it, then we would wait for the next house to come up, if we denied that one as well, then we would be taken off the list. This was about 1.5 months ago.
I highly doubt they would offer you two houses at once, unless by some stroke of luck there was no one else on the list and two houses were available.
Then again, I may not have had those great personal connections that you have.
Either way the first house they offered us was in Joshua Heights, and we jumped on that like white on rice
No I live out in town. Nice and quite with no neighbors. And we save more than 300 a month because the rent is lower than bah. I find it has worked out much better. We only have 3 months left here.
Good luck with your personal connections. The info changes everytime you talk to a different person.
I have learned the same thing. You get to offers on a house then you go back to bottom of wait. They can be 2 houses in the exact same area also. They are all nice houses. Each has their own ups and downs. Be happy you get a house at all. JEEZZZZZZZ
