Just spoke with Navy fed. They have two types of accounts. Active duty checking and everyday checking. If your account is an active duty one (if it isnt they will switch it for you over the phone)

You will get your pay on the date of the pending deposit. You will also get free checks for life and $20 rebate on atm fees.

Everyday checking doesnt offer any of that. Sooo if you or your husband is active duty you can call them and have it switched to an active duty account. The changes will take place on the next pay day. 

for someone that says "people suck", you sure are nice to them by sharing this info :P 

Now if they'd just remove their international fee I'd love them again! LOL
