Found out we're getting stationed at an Army Reserve base..with a battalion of Reserve Marines.. its a place called Fort Devens. Never heard of it until now and there doesn't seem to be much information for it.
Anyone heard of it/ lived there? Or lived in Mass as non-military?
I'm originally from PA, so I'm sure it won't be too different. But after living 2 years in Hawaii, then 9 months here, its gonna be hard to get back to that kind of cold! Plus I am going to miss the military community!
ya, thats the tough part... theres the navel war collage and base in Newport, RI.. not much bigger or better then here... make sure to check on holidays (I know for sure Mothers day is free) but the mansions sometimes have free weekends to go tour most of them (I grew up in Newport) also Bristol is a really cool historical area to go visit... they have the largest 4th of July parade in the nation there, the lines on the road are red, white and blue!
I am looking forward to getting to see the New England area & its history. Never made it more north than NYC. I'm sure in the 2-4 years we will be there we will be sure to check out all the surrounding states like RI!
