Ok now that the oldest in school for a few hours I'm wanting to try and hit the gym in the morning.

I know that you can take babies, as long as they are strapped in a car seat/stroller.

So my question is, what if I just want to walk on a treadmill or ride the elliptical or do the stair-stepper, I know it sounds crazy, but can I carry my baby in a snuggie, you know the ones that strap on your back or stomach?

I'm just trying to think in case she doesnt want to be still in her stroller, another options, lol :)

ZooHouse --- 13 years ago -

They are not allowing babies in or out of strollers in the gyms any longer.

Beach Living --- 13 years ago -

Yes, Zoohouse is right.

You are no longer allowed to have young children or babies in the gym anymore.

I believe you can go to the Community Center and have your child in a stroller...but they only have a few machines there.

WHAT... :(

BamaGurl1231 --- 13 years ago -

I was going to go to the community center in the morning. I'll try and just see what they say.

I read the link and it looks like I should be okay. I'm just wanting to do some cardio.

My friend has a 1 year old who we strap in the stroller and bike or walk the treadmill at the East Gym. They haven't said anything yet, so I dont know. We go there frequently. Do you know why they wont allow children anymore?

Beach Living --- 13 years ago -

I believe it's a safety issue and they won't allow children in the classes anymore because it was a distraction. I have a few friends that work at the gym, I can find out tomorrow and let you guys know! :)

Gym Question
will somebody go work out for me ???

TakenByTheBest --- 13 years ago -

Kids aren't allowed? thats dumb they should just kick out ppl with bratty kids lol. i went to the comm center before with my baby he just hung out in the stroller and they have a tv in there with kid shows on it... bit yeah it would b nice if they had a gym with a daycare.

Dimples --- 13 years ago -

I always thought kids weren't allowed. I just always found a sitter or worked out at home. I can see why safety wise they don't allow children. Also the distraction. I go to workout not listen to a kid scream, sorry. Hopefully they are putting together some sort of kidfriendly room for the parents who need it.

my son never screams lol seriously hes am angel. I have taken him before and he is content with a gram cracker in the stroller but most kids do so yeah thats annoying... if the gym had a daycare it would be nice for everyone tho... its hard for me to get a sitter out here because i dont know/trust many people or know them well enough to let them watch my kids... but then again im kinda picky about who i let watch them im not one of those moms who finds a sitter on craigslist lol

Those moms should be put in jail

Why not use the drop in center to go to the gym? Its $3.50 an hour. I have used it when we were moving onbase and my daughter LOVED it. She asks to go from time to time.

That really isn't safe. You could severely injure your baby if you lose your footing. Please don't do that!

shinyobject --- 13 years ago -

^ i agree, while you dont plan on falling, things can happen. Like a earthquake .... you never know.

My thoughts exactly! I truly don't think children belong in the gym.
