-on the net stuff about the Basenji dog AND that there is an ancient breed in New Guinea [from SE Asia] called the Singing Dog and very old and different looking / The Canaan Dog is of the Mideast, especially Palestine, dating back to the old Canaanites before Abraham was born (5000 years). Is a nice white color. Basenjis are native to the Congo forest or jungle. Pygmies keep them as pets and hunting dogs.

Docs you can get a Basenji in the States because I read there are at least breeders over here .I just do not know how close to right here of the desert it is .Long ago I meant two people in town who owned one.Check wikipedia on that name and maybe under Pariah group dogs .
