We got the memo last week. Gross place and I would never go there. Too bad the Home Store will be closing just so there can be another worthless restaurant on base.
Great, another fat burger place to help with our obese children....How about a nice salad bar.....
No doubt. Or even a freakin' Chik-Fil-A or Wendy's. Both are healthier than most of the options on that base.
If I remember correctly, I got crap for talking badly about unhealthy restaurants when they opened the Cinnabon inside Church's Chicken. But c'mon now - there is only one option on base that is even remotely healthy. It's sad.
The old Exchange is going to be turned into a fitness center/park. I know because the company I work for did a walk through and bid on the project. No timeframe is available as of yet, but I will let you all know when I do.
Also, the company I work for just received the project for the CDC. I don't think it is a new one but additions to an existing facility. That will be a year long project. Lots of new construction coming on base within the next year.
When is it closing? How can five guys possibly use the whole building? Seems they could fit a variety of restaurants inside of there.
Here is what I received:
There will not be a Beauty Salon in MCAGCC for the foreseeable future. The company that was providing the service previously has decided to discontinue doing so, and MCCS has not yet found a new provider. The intention is to have a Full Service (Manicure, Pedicure, Hair, Etc) Salon Placed in the Home Store Building.
Additionally the Home Store is to be the new home of 5 Guys Burgers and Fries in about 6 months. While rumors persist about additional eateries, there is nothing scheduled or contracted at this time.
I've never even heard of this place. Sounds like a good young male Marine place though. :)
If you like food deep fried in what tastes like peanut oil and burger so greasy you feel a heart attack coming 50 years in advance. Their food is so gross. Ate at one of their places once and completely swore it off.

I do agree that 5 guys is pretty unhealthy. I just posted b/c I know a lot of people do like them. Personally, I like to see a Panda Express if we get another "fast food" restaurant. I'm just happy we finally got the Jamba Juice.
That memo doesn't say the home store is closing. They have blocked off a large area (used to be toys, tools and pets). The plan has been to utilize that area for the beauty salon and at least one fast food.
FRO sent and email today saying the Five Guys thing is still only a rumor.
I assume the B.Gen knows more then an FRO...of course that's just my thoughts.

No it doesn't out right but really, how many people still use the place? Also who wants to eat in a place that smells like the Home Store does? That building smells horrid all the time. We quit going in there because of it. Besides the new PX has pretty much destroyed business for them. The meeting I was at said there were people discussing the "integration of furniture" into the Exchange. That to me sounds like the Home Store is headed out. Does it not?
Ok, I had a Town hall meeting, the Home Store is NOT closing!! Five guys is definite per the head MCCS Ms. Catlin. She also said the Main Exchange is not large enough to house the furniture dept. The Home Store stays put.
