The Combat Center School Liaison will host a Back to School Bash information and resource fair from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., this Thursday, Aug. 23.

The fair will take place in the Community Center gymnasium, Building 1004, and will be open to all families with installation access.

The event will feature informational talks on resiliency strategies for children, saving for college
and a question and answer session with Tom Baumgarten, Morongo Unified School District assistant superintendent for instructional services.

Families will have a chance to talk with representatives from a variety of Morongo Basin and Marine Corps organizations covering a variety of interests and issues. Education-centered
organizations attending include MUSD and MUSD Special Education representatives, Joshua Springs Christian School and Preschool, Joshua Tree Village Preschool, Copper Mountain College, and the Lifelong Learning Library on base. Activity organizations will include the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Young Marines, Armed Services Young Men's Christian Association, and the Combat Center's Child Youth and Teen program. Additional
support will be available to families from the Exceptional Family Member Program, the Combat Center chapter of Mothers of Preschoolers, and financial experts from USAA Financial Services. Information will also be available for spouses and children on the Lifestyle Insights Networking Knowledge and Skills (LINKS) program.

Law enforcement personnel from the Drug Awareness and Resistance Education program will be on hand to provide information and will offer fingerprinting for children.

Attendees can participate in fun activities such as taking photos in costume for souvenirs from the fair.

Will Little School of the Desert be there??

CombatCenterPAO --- 12 years ago -

Hijack, good question. According to Marie, LSOD won't be in attendance this year but we look forward to the possibility of them joining us next year. The other two preschools that will be present are Joshua Tree Village Preschool (JT) and Joshua Springs Preschool (Yucca Valley).
