If we have to wait so long for housing what are some month-to-month options? Apartments seem to be impossible to find online. 

Apartments don't really exist here in the traditional sense. Small little 1-2 room houses are considered (and called) apartments :)

I'm going thru this myself (only need a place for 2-3 months) and on AHRN there are a lot of rental homes with flexible terms.

Most if not all of the realtors in town also will let you go month to month for an additional 10% per month in rent.

My suggestion is to go on AHRN and call various realty companies in town; they all manage rental properties.

I suggest you stay wherever you are living now. Let your husband/boyfriend/fiance move down to 29 by himself. Its a pretty safe place for him, no coyote killers, cheaters or prostitutes. Heck, everyone respects a married Marine!
