Welcome! There is plenty to do if you're willing to plan and travel a bit. We were out in 29 for over 3 years and ended up liking it very much. :) The ASYMCA usually has some classes for little kids you could look into, for starters. Usually the community center out in town has a dance class or two offered (although I don't remember the ages). MOPS is also a good one, and the good thing about 29 is it rarely has bad weather so you can usually take advantage of the playgrounds around base.
I miss pizza the most!!!!!!!! Nothing like real pizza! Try Rocky's, itsdescen, but there is a place in Joshua Tree, Pie for the People that I heard was excellent. It was packed the day we went so we went somewhere else.
