So I know there is a bunch of posts but I have a lot of questions

What housing is for Snco?
How does it work with tmo when you move out in town first? They re move when a house opens up?
What has been people's experiences with the wait list and getting a decent home?
All the help is much appreciated

For Housing Wait Time

Just remember that you don't get to choose which community you move to but you should be able to call the Lincoln Housing office to find out which ones you qualify for based on rank and family size.

We got a rental out in town while waiting for housing but they called us the day the movers showed up so we are deferring housing until our lease is over. If your wait time is short, you can either pay out of pocket for lodging after your TLE ends or you can get a cheap month to month rental in town. If you do stay in town while waiting for housing to open up, they can do a courtesy move where they deliver to your temp home & then turn around & take it to your new place on base.

Depends on rank (what housing do you qualify for? I saw where you said e5 but here you say SNCO, they are different). Also depends on who is moving out. I have a friend and the wait was 4-6 months, but people weren't moving so she wound up waiting 7 1/2 months. Just remember wait time are mostly guesswork.

Excuse me. I see where the generic numbers are different.

My husband is a SNCO and we were put on the waitlist in July for a 3 bedroom. Housing said it would probably be 3-6 months at the time. To avoid moving our kids to a temporary house in town, then again to base housing, my husband decided to stay in the barracks and I stayed at my mom's house back in AZ with our kids. Well, 2 months passed and we did not move up one single spot on the wait list. Then Housing said it would most likely be at least another 4-6 months, which would put us in January-March with a total wait time of 6-8 months! So, we had to change our plans and now we have a small, but decent rental in town. It took awhile to find a rental that we felt comfortable living in- even just for 6 months.

According to the housing office when I called (it seems to change)the housing areas for SNCOs are: Copper Canyon, Joshua Heights, Marine Palms, and Shadow Mountain. No, you don't get to pick the one you want, but they are all nice in their own way.

We moved ourselves, but TMO would have moved us into our rental, and then moved us again to base housing.

There is SNCO housing in Ocotillo Heights as well.

Btw, we had a SNCO three bedroom sit empty in our neighborhood for a month and a half!!!

A guy in the housing office told me that they are not putting SNCOs in Ocotillo Heights anymore. They said it was going to be just for Officers now. He was distracted and in a hurry, so who knows what kind of info he gave me to hang up the phone. I don't really care what house we get. Anything will seem like a palace compared to the little rental we have now.

How thick are the walls in the SNCO housing? Can you hear your neighbors a lot?

I know 2 SNCO's that moved in Ocotillo this week and 2that are moving into Ocotillo within the month. Sometimes I think they just spew random crap to get you off the phone or our of their offices!!! Lol

we live inJoshua Heights and we can not hear our neighbors at all. My old neighbor told us thatse could here our dogs occasionally running up the stairs when we got them riled up, but that was it.
