I have an assignment coming up soon that requires that I attend a networking event and report on what I learned. Trouble is that I have no stinkin' clue where I would find something like that out here. Also, we just moved here about a month ago so I'm even more lost. I would have to do it on a Sunday or while my kids are at school which drastically limits how far I can travel. Does anyone know of anything going on in November that I can go to? Anything relevant might be helpful.

You could check with the Chamber of Commerce and find out when their next mixer is. It is on a Thursday evening but I don't remember which week of the month. Anyone can go.

Sair, call the Chambers of Commerce in 29, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley and Palm Springs. Somebody is bound to have an event coming up soon. (Not for sure, but I think the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce has an event Friday night. Check their Facebook page)

Thanks! I emailed the Yucca Chamber with some questions about their mixer. The 29 mixer is the same day as our ball in Vegas so that's definitely not going to work. Has anyone been to one of these things? What are they like? I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. 

They usually have food, drinks, and some sort of presentation. Just walk around and introduce yourself to people and tell them why you are there. That's what everyone else is doing and passing out business cards.
