My husband is currently deployed! We're unsure of his homecoming date, but my daughter and I will be moving down in march. I'm wondering what housing areas we are able to live in? How big are the houses? Can we get a 3 bedroom house even if we only have 1 child? And how long did people wait for their houses? I'm thinking of applying for housing now, and asking for it in mid February just incase it takes a while to get a house! Please help me out. Thank you guys!!!

depends on whats available. they usually give you 1 spare. so if you have a kid you will prob get a 3. if you want it mid-feb you should have already put your name on the list.

The above hasn't been my experience. I've lived in base here twice and if you have one child, your supposed to get a 2 bedroom. 2 children or expecting your second, 3 bedroom. No children gets you a 2 bedroom because their are no apartment type housing here on base. Every housing person seems to give different answers to questions, so if you have any questions call housing and ask to speak to the housing referral manager or if he's unreachable, try the Lincoln military housing manager. 760-368-4500.

2 bedrooms makes sense! What you said dfamily is what they told me. Have you lived in the 2 bedroom homes??

I currently live in one of the 2 bedroom homes Lincoln military has on base. Do you have any questions?

I just recently was offered two bedrooms in adobe flats. Do you know anything about those homes? Besides that are the bedrooms large? And how big are the living room/kitchen? I just need a general idea of size

I know just about everything about those homes because I've lived in one of them for nearly 3 years now lol...the house itself is just over 1000 sq. ft. And the houses are built like town homes. They are two stories and there are four town homes to one building I describe it to others as being like a duplex (you share walls with your neighbors) but I call it a quadruplex lol. I would describe the master bedroom as being on the larger side. In my master I have what I think is a lot of furniture...2 night stands, 1 dresser, I small armoire, and a tv stand....and it all fits in there well (granted I have no more room for anything else lol) I currently have a queen sized bed but I have a feeling a King size bed would fit just fine and MAYBE even a Cali King (I still have quite a bit of space on the sides of my night stands to allow for this) keep in mind though than I definitely know I would not be able to put a sleigh-style footboard on my bed because it would leave the walkway to the other side of the room cramped. I would say the kitchen is small but not terribly so. I don't feel there is enough storage space in their either. The kitchen can fit max a small 4 seater dining table. The living room is long on one side and and much shorter on the other. I have my tv in the corner and can fit my sofa and love seat well in there but not much else (except perhaps a coffee table). The living room is so long because its also supposed to be the dining room but when I had my dining set in there I found it to be too cramped. My set fits perfectly in the kitchen with one side against the wall (we're a family of 2 so we don't often have a need for all 4 seats). Oh and another thing I like about my unit is that it comes with a storage space in the garage with shelving and a storage unit in the house itself (about the size of the average walk-in closet). Oh and I don't know if you have any pets or intend to get any but the yard I pretty small but it's at least it's fenced. Oh yeah I also like that in Adobe Flats, most of the houses have need updated to newer appliances (oven, fridge, and microwave). Another thing to appreciate is the central A/C and heater as the usual thing you will find out here in 29 are just swamp coolers and trust me, they're not even close to being equivalent with each other lol. Oh and the guest room which I assume will be your daughters, is on the small to avg side. My guest room has a large desk and a queen size bed in there as well as a dresser that I have Double as the TV stand and believe me when I say you will NOT be able to fit anything else lol! Another thing I like is that the master has two long closets (one on each wall) with plenty of space in them (I have my dogs crate in mine to save space in the room). I know I've probably overloaded you with info but if you'd like me to text pics/videos let me know :) I remember when we moved here and how LITTLE information there was on the houses out here...but I really believe that it is better on base than out in town.

Whoa....I wrote a lot lol...sorry!

Clarification...the house don't NEED updated appliances be because they already have them lol
