The wife and myself are looking for stuff to do local to 29 Palms/JT/Yucca...or cool people to hang out with..been out here for 6 months but have yet to meet anybody really other than those I work with haha...
What type of person do you consider "cool"? And what are your hobbies and interests? Do you have children?
When my husband is not deployed, we like to go to the drive in,bowling, head to Palm Desert/Springs,Sand Diego or we go hiking / rock climbing in Joshua Tree. We love to camp and go on Motorcycle rides. We went to Pappy and Harriets once. We do enjoy nightlife however, we also have not found anyone that we "clicked" with in the year we been here. We mostly have his friends from work over. We watch football and nascar. Play corn hole, darts and my husband likes to shoot pool. Its so hard being adults and meeting friends that you both like.
Big NASCAR fans, love bowling, like drinking, no kids. As for cool I guess I meant just fun people to hang out with. We shoot pool but neither of us are any good. Haven't been to Pappy and Harriet's as I have heard it's a bit crowded and crappy service. Pretty simple folks...NASCAR and beer mostly keep us happy. I think I'd like your husband :D I am currently in a non-deployable unit so don't have to worry about that for the time being.

Well he'll be home in a a few short months so we'll have to meet up. We have kids but can get a babysitter.
Sounds good. I am a fan of kids and really like them. My wife is almost done with her credential to be an elemetary school teacher and currently student teaches at 29 Palms El so we don't dislike or mind kids but big kid fun is always better lol...definitely shoot me a message when he's back or if you want to hang out with my wife in the meantime
The Mrs. and I don't tend to do as much locally as we used to. Kids are ever present, but getting a sitter is never a problem. We go to the comedy night at HQ every now and again, and we try to support the local restaurants that we think are good. The drive-in at Smith's Ranch is pretty decent, you get two movies for $5 a person.
Other than that, we go down the hill,or bring a cooler of beer over to a friends house and just shoot the shizzle.
We want to try and make it to the drive in one of these days. I like Edchadas but other than that haven't really eaten out much. Have never had worse service than the Rib Co in Yucca...not sure if the one here is the same lol but not willing to spend money there ever again. Definitely like drinking beer and what not just don't know anyone here haha...I'm one of the few married folks that isn't married because we have children so we don't fit in with most military families cause we didn't have a shotgun wedding..
What's that have to do with getting to know people? I know people who have had a shotgun wedding and are happier then some people who didn't. Hubby and I had a courthouse wedding and have been together happily for over 10 years :)
Maybe I worded that poorly. We don't have much in common with the other 25 year old couples with 5 kids, always arguing cause Mama is a homemaker and has nothing better to do than drain the bank account, b*tching about how the USMC should be like welfare and pay them more for all their kids and generally being scandalous. We are responsible individuals who want to have children when we feel the time is right and there isn't much to talk about when all the other spouses talk about is pregnancy...when they want to get knocked up next and the best way to spend Papabears paycheck before they get it. Granted the above generalization doesn't apply to all military families but many I have encountered
No kids, don't plan to have any, I work so I contribute to the bank account, and hubby enjoys beer while I enjoy wine. We prefer to just hang out and play video games, we're homebodies. :) I feel like I'm making a personal ad or something...
