Just got orders that we will be PCSing from Germany to 29 this November. Is it completely impossible to get on the housing wait BEFORE you get there?
Has anyone had any luck with this before?
Anyone gone from overseas to 29 have any advice on anything else? It would be super helpful.

Pcsing TO germany was insane it was like no one had ever done it before, none of the personnel knew anything, just hoping going back is bit easier. 

as far as I know you can not get on the housing list until your spouse checks in. However it MIGHT be different for a family coming from overseas. Your best bet is to try to call the housing office and see what they say. 

We're PCSing from Hawaii & ran into the same thing with housing. They won't even start the process until hubby checks in but they will back date your wait on the list to his detachment date. Unfortunately for us, mine is detaching the day before we leave so we may be SOL. 

We are detatching a month prior to checking in so thats great in all that we will get that month back on our wait - but are all these families SOL for 6 months they are waiting??! Everywhere out in town doesnt look so great and basically take all of your BAH just for rent. 

There are places in town that aren't bad. Yes it does seem like most rental companies go off what the BAH is here. I wish y'all the best and hope your move is easy. :-) 

I must have gotten lucky then in regards to rent equally BAH. I live in a nice albeit smaller 2 bedroom with a garage and fenced front/back yard in a nice neighborhood and only pay 2/3 of BAH monthly for rent
