I just received this from my FRO and thought I would pass the info along. ----------------------------- Operation Baby Shower is looking for 45 women, that are expecting, to have a baby shower thrown for them. Here is what we are looking at :: Monday, the 19th of July at the Renaissance Esmeralda Hotel in Indian Wells, from 1800-2100. A group that is based on the East coast and partnered with the March of Dimes believes that our spouses don't get a chance to have "real" baby showers. This group would like to host the ladies for a night out, (dinner, a chance to be out of the house, small talk, and gifts) They have 1000 people coming to the event and or donating to the event I need help in finding these ladies, they will have to provide their own transportation and child care (for older children) but everything else is covered. (Carpool as a unit?) Last year an event like this was held at one of the Chapels and seemed to go over well. I'm looking for: 1-Someone to run it (if possible, one of the mom's to be) 2-45 expectant moms to go 3-a way to make sure we don't miss out on this opportunity More info to follow in the next few weeks, this is just a heads-up. 

I did this last year and got a carseat for Smidget. I got a toddler one and he just switched into it last week! Its AWESOME to be able to get that! last year there was no dinner, etc, though! Thats awesome! 

Is this the same shower that operation baby shower has been planning for awhile but didnt have enough woman to participate? I turned all my paper work in months ago for it & they told me they would have a date soon.That was back in jan,I was hoping to attend the shower but my due date is july 19th:)

Im still waiting on emails back and no response yet. I know they have been really busy with all the stuff they have going on near the Pendleton area. And with the Give a Day and Get a Day from Disney.

I was outta state visiting family:) My specialist allowed me to fly home during certain dates up until I was 18 weeks along since he took me off bedrest.Now I cant travel more than a few hours from home except to loma linda for our baby appts.I hadnt seen family in over a year so it was great to see everyone. We found out about a month ago we're having a girl!

How was the one last year? 

The one last year was good, but they got teh hopes of the moms up a little by asking for our registry info, etc and the baby's gender and such. The only thing I got that was boyish was a teething ring. Everything else was gender neutral. And nothing was from my registry. Not that that was bad, but I was expecting a couple of cheap things from our registry since they asked for it. It was really nice though. Snacks were good, games were fun, prizes were given out, and I got a car seat! So I can't complain! But they only gave out one big prize---an entire nursery set and toys and clothes and such to ONE person...we were all at least a little jealous of that and several of the other moms were upset by it---I already had my crib, etc and was due 2 weeks later, so I wasn't worried about that :D

We found out about a month ago we're having a girl! Oh Yay! 

I was a mom last year, and it was really nice, they put in a lot of hard work to try and make it as nice as possible for us. Last year there was moms there who just had babies too, so it doesnt hurt to ask. Plus maybe you will go past your due date, i know no one hopes for that, but it happens a lot. They are a great organization and they do lots for military families. 

Ladies, this shower is different from the one we host with Operation Showers of Appreciation. We were told we needed to postpone our shower at least 2 months from the shower being held by MCCS in April at the community center there on base. They didn't want a conflict of interest as they were thinking people would not attend their shower. IDK The Operation Showers of Appreciation Shower will be held on June 19th and is for those that have been on our current list and will continue to take applications until we fill the shower. Last year we assisted our 2ooth family during the shower and that is why one family was honored with a crib, mattress, and bedding set in addition to the things everyone else received. We always ask for registry information as a guide to see what type of items you are looking for. It's never promised nor said that we will shop directly from that registry. Sorry for any confusion there. The shower mentioned in this post is being held by a National non-profit Sorority that will be holding a convention type event in Indian Wells. They are looking to support 45 moms that have not delivered by the date of their shower.

I'm waiting for a flier to post on here for all of you. I do know they are working with a base rep on this shower. Just not sure how the info is getting passed.
